GERC has been established since 1992 at the Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University. The main mission of this Center, as a component of Faculty of Agriculture, is to participate in solving of national agricultural problems using plant biotechnology, and to develop the research skills of the juniors

GERC for the scientific community

Biochemical analysis, molecular fingerprinting and in vitro propagation of  economically important plants, including banana and ornamental plants and fruit trees

Facilities

The Center is well equipped and has all the lab facilities, growth chambers, incubators and greenhouse facilities needed to efficiently perform research tasks in molecular genetics, transformation and plant tissue culture.

Training courses:

The mission of the center includes regular training in the field of plant biotechnology for national, regional and international students. For instance specialized training courses were organized for Egyptian, Arabian and African trainees.
