Several successful research projects were carried out at the center in collaboration with other national and international research institutions. The performed projects included the establishment of transformation system for the Egyptian clover tolerant to cotton leaf worm and production of transgenic rice tolerant to stem borers and rice blast.

Previous projects

1-  Improvement of drought tolerance and nutritional quality of Canola using genetic engineering (with collaboration with NRC) 2004-2007, Financed by the National Academy of Science. (More details)

Somatic embryogenesis in canola

2-  Improvement of seed quality and nutritional value of Faba bean using genetic engineering (with collaboration with NRC) 2004-2007, Financed by the National Academy of Science. (More details)

3-Genetic Engineering of Rice for Resistance of Rice Blast and Rice Stem Borers. Financed by the National Academy of Science

  Current projects:

1-Improvement of drought tolerance and photosynthetic activity in canola using genetic engineering (Financed by STDF )

2- Improvement of fungal disease tolerance in      transgenic tomato plants expressing the superoxide dismutase gene (SOD). Financed by Cairo University.
